Finally stepping onto the plane. I received message for Smarttraveller warning about Super Typhoon Yagi was going to hit Hanoi Saturday afternoon. Next a message Vietnam Airline rescheduling my 19.00 flight to 03.25 the next day as airport closed. I started emails to the hotel and transfers in Hanoi and Pandaw tour letting know of my delay.
That was the least of my troubles for now the gentleman across the aisle complained about the entertainment system not working agree this annoying but he wouldn’t let it go. He was an expert in everything you all know the type. The plane taxied out but as we waited in line for take off so I thought I see the Captain talking with him his main concerned was due to the entertainment system fault might have have a flow on effect to the main CPU. Next thing the plane is taxing back to the terminal as a passenger wanted to leave the plane😖 This made him upset as everyone would know when he was the cause but he left the plan quickly and angry….. 2 hours later the wheels finally left the ground.
Finally arrived Bangkok …….. trouble getting into the transit area …… not correct documents …..QANTAS will hear from me. But made Vietnam’s airways desk they had found me a seat on an earlier flight I still going to have an 8 hour plus delay. I paid for lounge access I had many messengers from the hotel, Pandaw and my car transfer company. Long story short story hotel room would be ok, Pandaw aware sadly car company cancelled my car.
I eventually landed in Hanoi at 02.30 on the 8 Sep the biggest challenge to get a taxi to the hotel no Taxis to be found but a industrial entrepreneur was at an empty taxi stands arranging transfers at 4 times the price in share rides. I was exhausted and took the ride finally reaching g the hotel at 04.25 and being told Pandaw checking was 09.30. No street lights on the way trees and rubbish many places but army busy clearing the roads. Note was very dark when I arrived but a warm greeting and said many people looking for me
