Hai Pong ……. No longer able to achieve the final destination
“To trace the history of a river….is to trace the history of the soul, the history of the mind descending and arising in the body”
Gretel Ehrlich
Before unset and as the dayLight cane we were cruising on the Red river pass Hai PNG the major port for Hanoi. The sides of the bank showed the destruction of Yagi the river had broken the banks of the river in many places. It was very humid you could see more rain annd storms were on the way. We were told there was no excursion for the morning instead we would make rice paper rolls with the chief and how to make flowers from vegetables and the hoped after lunch we would be able to do an excursion.
rice proper rolls was interesting mine was too big and would roll that well it split busy eating forgot to take photos
The pictures show how the river was flowing fast and so much debris….the bottom right photo with the bridge in the distance was to be the down fall of the journey . Pandaw Ankor needed 7.1 metres to clear the captain and engineer went to investigate and found there was only 4.1 metres. We were told we would disembark once they could determine where we could get off and they find transport and where we could go also most of the crew would also leave. So we all ate lunch not sure if we would return the government had also instructed Pandaw to get the passengers off. Not much dinner conversation just disbelief.
Sadly we got of rain started to fall the bus was ok not a luxury experience we were going to make our way to Ninh Binh the roads were terrible water rain and dark. We were going spend time at Emeralda resort
